Cornwall’s number one music studio and production company

Cube recording has a reputation as a multi-purpose recording studio capable of accommodating all your audio, composition and recording requirements

The studio has recently played host to The XX, Tom Meighan (ex Kasabian) and Sam Ryder who recorded vocals for Eurovision hit ‘Space Man’.

With the opening of new Studio Room C, it was time for a brand refresh. I worked with the team to create a flexible identity to cover a range of styles of music they cater for.

A flexible identity

The biggest challenge: find an original take on a shape which is so ubiquitous. After much experimentation, the final, flexible logo is a twist on a traditional technique.

Using oblique projection to create a cube, the form is deconstructed to leave only two parallel plains. This creates a visually interesting solution that has it’s inception in 3D but is engaging in 2D for marketing and promo. The identity can stretch and grow when needed.

Supporting brand elements

(Coming soon)

The studio caters for a range of clients from string quartets to heavy rock bands so the look and feel of the brand had to be flexible but consistent. A youthful, vibrant colour palette creates an exciting identity when needed and a safer, more conservative design too to appeal to a large range of clients.
